Proofreader, Transcriptionist

Sep 2012 - Present
Production of excellent quality documents to client specifications. I have worked in general and medical transcription with companies such as: SAProType, Way With Words, Common Good, Rev (Formerly FoxTranscribe) As a transcriptionist I have learned how to self-motivate. When you start with a salary of zero every month and have to work your way up from there, it teaches you the value of hard work and determination, especially when you have a family relying on you to provide for them each month. Events Planner and Coordinator
-
Jun 2018 - May 2020
• Responsible for all tasks relating to running and coordinating events including advertising, décor, food, liaising with volunteers and congregants. • Responsible for administration related to the congregation, such as emailing, updating the database and speaking to congregants, volunteers and leaders. • Responsible for creating the weekly mailer to send out to congregants, as well as the social media posts. • A lot of my work is done independently in a work from home or work from the office capacity. I manage my time and always complete tasks on time. My staff reviews have reflected that I am achieving exceptionally well in my role. My writing and language skills have been honed in this position as I write copy for our mailer as well as our social media posts. My attention to detail and speed at completing tasks have been singled out as being exceptional. Key learning: This role has allowed me to learn the value of team work both within the Constantiaberg team and between all the different congregations represented in the operations office. I have learnt more about time management, as I have been required to keep many different tasks on the go at the same time, all with differing deadlines and importance. I have learned that being genuine and caring deeply for people and their lives is highly valued and people really appreciate it as they feel that their lives matter. Show less

Owner
-
Jan 2007 - Dec 2010
A business offering contract and once-off cleaning services to business and individual clients. Key learning: I learnt a lot about managing people in this role. I was the sole owner and manager in the business, and I carried the responsibility for ensuring that there was enough income to pay the cleaners who worked for me. I also had to manage relationships with several third-party service providers, and this helped me to learn how to build relationships with people in other organisations to ensure good service for my clients. Key learning: I learnt presentation skills and interpersonal skills in this position. In the beginning, I found it very difficult to stand up in front of a class of students and lecture, but this position really afforded me the opportunity to improve in this area. Key learning: These roles gave me the opportunity to work as part of a team. As a very junior member of the teams in which I worked, I was required to support the other team members and perform whatever tasks were required of me. This helped me to become a better team player and made me realise that there is no place for ego in a team environment. Key learning: These roles gave me the opportunity to work as part of a team.
