Kevis House is a small art gallery in Petworth, West Sussex. Hodgson Events is based at Kevis House, which runs the annual 4 day Works on Paper art Fair in London and retail areas at polo matches in Sussex, Surrey and London. My two main roles are described below. PR and Loan Exhibition Assistant at the annual Works on Paper Fair, Royal Geographical Society, London. The Fair brings together 50 respected dealers selling works of art on paper spanning six centuries, including drawings, watercolours, original prints, illustrations and more. The 2016 Fair also included a programme of talks from museum curators and historians including Simon Schama, and a loan exhibition of previously unseen paintings and drawings by the writer Laurie Lee (1914-1997). Responsibilities included promoting the art fair to local, industry and national press for feature articles and listings (such as the Art Newspaper, the Independent, the Telegraph) and arranging media partnerships with organisations/magazines (such as The Week). Running all social media platforms preceding and during the Fair, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and e-newsletters. A member of the Loan Exhibition project team - inputting caption data, packing pictures for transport, object movement control, hanging pictures, invigilating and selling exhibition catalogues. Gallery Assistant at Kevis House Gallery, Petworth, West Sussex. The Gallery sells works of art on paper from all eras, displayed in a programme of quarterly exhibitions. In particular, British and local contemporary artists are represented, including hosting the annual travelling exhibition of the Society of Wood Engravers. Responsibilities included preparing for exhibitions; liaising with artists, producing captions, framing and hanging pictures, and promoting the Gallery to press and public using the methods mentioned above. I ran the Gallery independently on a Saturday, stocking postcards, greeting customers, and handling sales. Show less
