At Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory I am working on profiling and optimizing the atmospheric component of the Energy Exascale Earth System model (E3SM) known as the Simple Cloud Resolving E3SM Atmostphere Model (SCREAM). The goal of SCREAM is to use using Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) architectures to run efficiently at a global resolution of 3 km cell length, which will enable climate simulations to resolve weather events such as tropical and extratropical cyclones, atmospheric rivers, and cold air outbreaks.

I am working on developing and optimizing Salo Science's wildfire hazard and vegetation simulation systems. This involves building an improved workflow to scale individual simulations on a cloud infrastructure as well as improving the underlying codebase for the wildfire behavior model. I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Computational Cosmology Center (C3). My research focused on large-scale cosmological simulations to model the impact of massive neutrinos on the 21-cm signal from the epoch of re-ionization and cosmic dawn and the Lyman-α forest. To do this I worked extensively on the improvement and development of fully-numerical codes to tackle these astrophysical and cosmological problems.
