I worked as waitress here specialising in events held by the hotel. This was a very fast paced environment where at times we could have 250 guests at once. I helped to set up the function’s, greet guests and serve food. This role also involved the cleaning of the function and kitchen and maintaining the high standard of hospitality for guests. During my training with Citizenship First I was able to train in my care certificate and meet a range of different service users. I helped to support people with many different needs to be able to work towards their goals and live as independently as possible both within and outside their homes. This job involved administering medication, personal care, monitoring finances, service user’s paperwork and supporting them in the community. • Telephone Link Line Operator
      • Feb 2018 - May 2018

I volunteered with Sheffield Carers Centre where I worked as part of a Telephone Link Line service. I had 5 clients assigned to me who I kept regular contact with. The clients had been flagged as benefitting from regular contact due to being vulnerable or isolated. My job was to chat with them and record in the database what had been discussed and what the next plan of action is. I also recognised when my clients could benefit from or needed another service/ extra help and was responsible for ensuring this happened.

    • Care Assistant
      • Aug 2017 - Jan 2018

During my time here, I was required to help care for challenging behaviour service users (many suffering from dementia and/or mental health difficulties). This involved getting them ready for the day, personal care, meal times and filling out care plans. I was also required to learn how to communicate with each service user in the most effective way for them personally and help promote independence. Furthermore, when service users presented challenging behaviour I learnt how to de-escalate the situation and learnt what had prompted this behaviour and how to resolve this.

    • Cafe Assistant
      • Oct 2011 - Aug 2016

I started my work here as a pot washer where I was required to keep the tables and café area clean, the kitchen area clean and a constant supply of clean pots. I then progressed to working behind the counter where I was required to take orders and complete the ones including drinks and puddings, operate the tills, serve orders, take phone calls and keep tables clean. When I became head counter, I was additionally required to maintain stock on the counter, oversee my co-workers and train new staff on the counter. I occasionally transferred to the shop when we were understaffed, where I operated the till and took phone calls.
