Exercise sessions with the lead exercise physiologist focused on individual and small groups to increase and maintain strength and overall fitness. The clients ranges from 40-70 years of age and were mainly veterans. Primary responsibility was instructing exercise programmes written by the lead exercise physiologist and providing feedback to the client about their performance or technique. Sessions consisted of 30-60minutes of either full body, focus on a muscle group, balance or cardiorespiratory endurance. During one-on-one (sometimes two-on-one) short sessions were prescribed by myself with the lead exercise physiologists supervision and I was also responsible for monitoring the responses of the clients during the session. At the end of some sessions I would collect feedback from the clients for future sessions and personal development. During the group sessions, the lead exercise physiologist would allocate 2-3 clients to myself to supervise and correct any technique where necessary. Any time the clients had any injuries/niggles whilst performing an exercise I would give them an alternative with the lead exercise physiologists approval. As a lot of our clients were elderly I would spend a lot of time with them to improve their balance, giving them exercises and positive feedback which in turn increased their performance. Show less

The Peel Regional Academy of Sport focuses on individual and team athletic development with an age range of 13-21 years of age as well as athletes from local to national level representation. Primary responsibility was instructing exercise programmes written by the lead exercise physiologist and strength and conditioning coach. During these sessions my responsibility was also to provide feedback to the athletes about their performance or technique. Sessions consisted of a warm up (approx. eight-ten minutes), 30-45 minutes of resistance training, some sprinting, acceleration, agility and/or mobility activities and a cool down. For each athlete’s program they were sport specific however, the main goal of the programs was to improve strength and agility. During the session when I wasn’t providing direct instruction or feedback to the group I would work on individual conditioning for any of the athletes completing rehabilitation. These one-on-one (sometimes two-on-one) short sessions were prescribed by an approved associated physiotherapist and I was responsible for monitoring the responses of the athletes during the session. At the end of each session I would collect any data and equipment from the athletes to be analysed by myself and the lead exercise physiologist. Show less
