As a 9th-grade English teacher, my primary responsibility is to design and implement instruction. In an online setting, part of that implementation means encouraging student and parent engagement with the curriculum. I work hard to build relationships with students and parents to drive students to achieve at the highest level of intellectual rigor possible. I co-founded the school's online writing center with a peer. I also founded two clubs, the literary magazine club and the GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance). I have also served on the graduation committee and have mapped part or all of 5 separate 7-12 English courses to the PA Common Core standards for both English Language Arts and Career Education and Work.

As a Blended English teacher, I provided instruction and supervision for students who prefer something more like asynchronous education. I collaborated with peers to plan instructional content for a number of courses including 9th-grade English, which I taught as the teacher-of-record for a full year, as well as a number of courses I taught as a long-term substitute, including 7th Grade English Language Arts, 8th Grade English Language Arts, African American Literature, and American History. I provided personalized feedback on student writing and built relationships with students and parents through frequent contact.
