  I have served as a volunteer leader with Young Life Fresno State since November 2022. In this role, I have established meaningful connections with college-age students, helped the club in coordinating weekly events with students, attended and fundraised money for quarterly travel experiences, in addition to other responsibilities. In establishing meaningful connections, this has required both spending time with people during Young Life events as well as outside club events on a weekly basis. Through this role, I have gained extensive knowledge regarding serving in a leadership position, communicating effectively with students and other leaders, and other significant qualities that has impacted how I interact with other people.   Since January 2020, I have worked as an English Tutor at the Reedley College Reading & Writing Center. This role has involved encouraging comprehension of information related to reading and writing effectively, primarily but not solely in college-level English classes. In addition to this, during tutoring sessions we facilitate understanding in students regarding how to structure essays, write effective arguments and communicate them coherently, work on mechanics such as grammar and punctuation, and write in an academic voice so as to improve their writing. In addition to providing tutoring sessions on a weekly basis, our responsibilities include working in groups with other tutors to develop presentations for conference presentations, generate monthly publications, and generate essays related to our understanding of how to be an effective tutor in the training courses English 72 and 72A.
