I took part in a week's worth of work experience with this charity, with the role of welcoming individuals into the charity building, and sitting with them for as long as they wish. These individuals were potentially vulnerable people, those who were currently battling a cancer diagnosis, or had someone close to them have the cancer diagnosis. I helped them to take a break before or after their treatments, or allow them a place to relax away from their diagnosis. Alongside this, I got the opportunity to shadow their psychologist for a period, which meant I was able to sit in on a meeting with other counselling psychologists working with cancer patients where they discussed issues within their fields. I also was able to take my level two safeguarding for adults and children qualification which means I am covered until the 22nd of July 2022. Show less
