I completed a month long internship with the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, working on the communications and outreach for the annual solar astronomy festival, Solarfest. I had a wide and diverse range of responsibilities, including creating a flyer and programme for the event, writing a press release, liaising with the local media and community associations and filming/editing interviews with the speakers and organisers for the festival's youtube channel. Some aspects of this internship were quite challenging, particularly learning to use Photoshop and video editing software in a short amount of time. However as a result learned many new skills. The team I worked with were excellent, the work was extremely interesting and I gained fantastic practical experience of many different facets of communications work. Show less
