My role consisted of the following on a daily basis; Preparing and delivering highly sensitive Court Bundles in wide variety of criminal matters. Reviewing negligence cases regarding accidents and recommending next steps. Answering a variety of Legal queries on behalf of the my employer. I worked closely alongside the Coroner’s Office Northern Ireland, redacting sensitive material. Phone correspondence with multiple government agencies. This included attending court on behalf of my employer. Writing guidance on practical implications of new legislation. Preparing legal documents, such as Briefs to Counsel, Memorandum of Appearance, List of Documents, Notice for Further and Better Particulars. Maintaining a clearly organised file room and auditing files. Reviewing complex criminal cases and advising the legal advisors on the next steps that must be taken. Minute taking for a variety of Senior Level Management Meetings. I completed a number of large pieces of research for the Department of Justice. I worked within a team of five solicitors and one barrister and directly assisted each of them with their caseload. Managing my time and prioriting tasks to enable each case to be updated and all enquiries answered urgently, was paramount to success in this role. I was expected to account for every hour of my working week and present this to the Director of Legal each week, along with a clear report on my caseload. This weekly conference call was also vital in problem solving, particularly for high profile/high value cases, and I was expected to have a clear and concise knowledge of the cases discussed and the relevant legislation. Due to the pandemic, my working week consisted of both remote and office work. I had to be self-motivated as often I was the only member of the Litigation Team in the office. This also meant that I had to be flexible to pick up urgent work if it was needed. Show less
