Conducted field research under the University's Entomology Professor (Dr. VanOverbeke). Purpose of the study was to determine if ecological restoration efforts effected pollinator abundance and diversity at a local nature sanctuary. Under Dr. VanOverbeke's guidance, I crafted the study's methodology; set-up, maintained, and collected specimens from traps; sorted and identified insects in the lab; ran summary statistics; and presented preliminary results in both professional and informal settings. Fed animals, monitoring and recording animal's consumption. Maintained kennels (sanitization, cleaning, laundry, etc). Maintained records of all animals which included tracking food consumption and activity levels. Assisted veterinarian during in store check-ups and drove animals to and from vet clinic when in-clinic care was needed. This also required me to understand and communicate concerns relating to bringing the animals in. Assisted veterinarian and vet techs in clinic when asked to do so. Assisted in administering medicine prescribed by the Veterinarian in store and also cared for animals at home when specialized feeding schedule was necessary. Left job in order to return to college.
