      The Philadelphia University Mentoring Program (PUMP-Up) sends Philadelphia University students to inner-city Philadelphia grade schools to tutor students in a variety of subject matter. Volunteered at Roxborough High School in winter 2014 tutoring 9th grade students in health class and working with 12th grade students on college applications. Promoted to Assistant Coordinator in fall 2014 and, while continuing volunteer work at Roxborough, used position to hold fundraising events and run information sessions for prospective volunteers. Promoted to Student Director in fall 2015 while volunteering at E.W. Rhodes Elementary School in a 2nd grade classroom. Added responsibilities included full maintenance of volunteer recruitment, assigning volunteers to schools, maintaining open contact between Philadelphia University and each participating school, collecting background checks, and meeting monthly with the Program Supervisor.

      The Pathways Freshman Seminar is a one credit course required for each incoming freshman. Students are taught best practices for success in a college environment. Each class is held one day a week for 50 minutes with one faculty member and one peer mentor, an upperclassman, of the university.
