During this internship experience, I had the opportunity to explore other roles within the food service industry. I shadowed the manager at Figlio and observed the responsibilities of her role such as payroll, inventory, and ordering. I also gained a better understanding of the manager's role in training, motivating, and educating staff to follow Figlio's procedures and culture. I also worked in the back of house as a prep cook where I not only learned how to prepare the foods that Figlio serves, but to observe how menu items are developed and the efforts necessary to ensure food safety at every step of preparation.
