Bio
Matthew Spencer
I've worked with Hamzah for two years and I've been very impressed with his technical acuity, capacity for self-teaching and initiative. During his tenure in my research group Hamzah has been building a simulator model of phase-change memory This is particularly impressive because building this model requires extensive familiarity with the literature and Hamzah started with none. However, he was able to take instruction, perform independent research and produce a sophisticated simulation program.

Hamzah showed a tremendous amount of initiative and was very self-driven. He often took tasks further than I had expected, and it was incredibly helpful. He volunteered for projects and contributed a lot to the team. He was very self-motivated and accomplished a lot during his time with New Relic. I would gladly work with Hamzah again and recommend him enthusiastically.

Tarteel is developing the world's first app for automatic Quran memorization & recitation correction. Our mission is to support Muslims who want to learn how to recite the Quran, enhance their memorization, and develop a stronger relationship with their faith. Tarteel has collected thousands of hours of audio through its Quran app, which provides first-of-its-kind interactions, including Shazam-like search for the Quran, recitation follow-along, and a memorization mode that uncovers words as the verses are recited. My responsibilities include - designing, building, evaluating, and deploying production ML systems at scale, - developing and scaling internal infrastructure and utilities to enable training state-of-the-art speech2text models for Quranic recitation audio, - leading an international team in designing and implementing a data ingest ETL pipeline for processing audio data.
