      The main responsibilities for this role involves sea turtle egg collection and relocation, hatchery management, data recording, implementing and constructing sea turtle based activities for volunteers as well as other activities to aid the development of the project site, providing educational tours to tourist and engage in educational programs for the local community of Tioman, government schools and international schools. Key responsibilities: • Data recording upon sea turtle nesting, hatchling emergence and nest excavation • Brief volunteers on how to patrol the beach for nesting turtles and execute hatchery checks for hatchling emergence • Set the daily beach patrol schedule according to the tide chart and assign patrol & hatchery check duties to volunteers • Provide sea turtle nest digging training to volunteers • Perform egg collection and nest relocation • Excavate sea turtle nests and train volunteers to help out in this procedure in terms of recording data • Place temperature loggers adjacent to relocated nests and plotting the graphs (temperature of sand against time) • Preside over hatchling release procedures and train volunteers to execute this • Crowd control during hatchling release and when a nesting sea turtle is spotted • Sending adoption certificates to hatchling and nest sponsors • Use the I3S Pattern software to identify facial profiles of sea turtles taken during nesting or snorkeling and registering profiles of new sea turtles in the database. • Provide talks on sea turtle biology, behavior and conservation to tourists as well as train volunteers to provide these talks • Gave educational presentation, patrol briefing and lectures to students from various government and private institutions across Malaysia and Singapore • Patrol to nearby beaches via boat to lookout for/ collect sea turtle nests and relocate it to the hatchery • Mitigating nest relocation issues during the Monsoon season Show less
