Spent 3 seasons playing for MHI, based in Kanagawa prefecture, near Tokyo. An ambitious club, building a team to win promotion to the Top League competition. As well as taking off field leadership roles, which had it's intricacies in a foreign country, it also gave me the opportunity to get my Japanese language ability as high as possible. Played one and a half seasons in La Rochelle France. A highlight was playing my part in getting the team promoted to the Top 14 competition in my first half season, and then staying up the next season. Not an easy task! Great place to live and travel, and a fantastic experience. Played one and a half seasons in La Rochelle France. Took the chance to play in France and experience a different part of the world. Arrived as a 'medical joker' injury replacement and had to hit the ground running. 3rd form French was very rusty! Great to play for a top team, and to make the top 6 playoffs of the French Top 14, and qualifying for the Heineken Cup. Took the chance to play in France and experience a different part of the world. Spent four seasons playing in Osaka Japan, for NTT Docomo. A large mobile telecommunications business in Japan. Arrived in the deep end, with no Japanese ability or understanding of how the Japanese play rugby, and had to quickly learn. And amazing, eye-opening experience. Gained promotion to the top league competition, a first for the company. Some testing times, but overall, life changing. Spent four seasons playing in Osaka Japan, for NTT Docomo. Professional Rugby player for the Crusaders for 2009 and 2009 seasons, and the Canterbury Air NZ cup team (2006-2008). A dream come true playing for the best provincial rugby organisation in the world, and some of the greatest players ever. Created unforgettable memories. Winning the 2008 Air NZ cup and the 2008 Super Rugby competition the obvious highlights, as well as being part of a great Ranfurly shield run. Ended with 24 caps for Canterbury and 9 for the Crusaders. I went to Christchurch to study Engineering and ended up playing professionally at the same time, so my time management skills were perfected. Proud to come away with 1st class honours while playing.
