In March 2017 I started working at Steelinvest as International Trade Manager. I am responsible for multiple areas : Trade finance and documentary credits : From the creation of a documentary credit (import and export) to the follow-up and, if necessary, problem-solving. Trade finance and documentary credits are my main area of expertise and something I am very passionate about. I try to constantly evolve along with the international markets to ensure I am up to date on the newest trends. Forex Hedging : For an International company operating on a global scale and dealing in multiple currencies a strong forex management is absolutely necessary. I am responsible for the forex hedging and forecasts. While doing this I aim to be as a close as possible to a projected date, taking into account multiple factors. I work closely with our accounting department and report to the CFO. PIC for Steelinvest BVBA and Steelinvest Europe for the African Region : From approving deals to providing financing support and documentation, I aim to have a smooth run from start to end and try to support all involved parties in doing so. CDIO - Chief Digital Information officer : Database project : For an internal project where we aim to digitize our database and to introduce a new operating system, I am to ensure good and timely results. In doing this I am working side-by-side with a team of highly motivated developers. Responsible for Digital information : I see it as a personal challenge to ensure we are a step ahead on the digitalization of the markets. I have a very strong interest in Blockchain and am following these trends closely. Show less

I started in the documentary credits department in April 2013 and was intrigued by everything that surrounded documentary credits and with it, international trade. Since my introduction to this, at that time, new challenge I was determined to expand my knowledge. Today I have a strong knowledge of documentary credits, international finance and trade and a certificate in harbour policies. I have had the honor to work with giant commodity traders and with expanding middle-sized enterprises. Informing them, advising them and growing together to a cost-efficient, secure and timely transactional performance.Next to my responsibilities as a controller I was responsible for a part of the accounting of our trade finance department. The key was to make sure the internal accounts were correctly balanced and funds were transferred to the correct account serving a specific purpose. Since most of these transactions were done in an SAP based environment, different codes were required to perform transactions. This gave a certain depth and challenge to this task. Show less

After testing for the mobile application the product managers received the green light to put the application live. It was at that time that I started giving courses to my colleagues on how the application works so we could better serve customers with their Mobile banking related questions. The courses were given from the customer side as well as from the operational side (What if it goes wrong?). This was a very interesting and fun period as the banking application became more successful and is today still one of the leading banking applications on the market. After the enrollment of the application and after most of the trainingschedules were fulfilled I started a course in domestic credits and loans. After this course I was able to give specialized info regarding domestic credits and loans in general to customers. Show less

    • Cliëntenadviseur KBC

At KBC I started working as client advisor. This job was perfect to get to know the financial sector, the different banking products and this experience lit my desire to know more about finance. At KBC I had contact with customers, which required help with their everyday-banking routine. I also helped the local branches to a certain extent. It was during this timeframe that I obtained my 2 banking degrees (Wet Willems and Wet Cauwenberghs) which allowed me to give advice related to banking products and insurance products. Since I had always been interested in technology in general my boss thought I could help in the, at that time, new Mobile Banking application (which is an application on your smartphone or tablet and has since the start received numerous awards for its innovational character). I was ready for a new chapter. Show less

I started my first work-experience at Base, which belonged to the KPN Belgium Group, a mobile operator primarily active in Belgium and the Netherlands. After I graduated I was looking for a job on short-term and one that could give me a challenge. Since I had little to no experience at that moment I was primarily looking to expand my general knowledge and communication skills. Not knowing in big extent to what I was jumping into I looked forward to my first job. While working at Base I have met a lot of interesting people, from my direct colleagues to the area manager and the CEO. After about a year I received the opportunity to work in a side-branch as office/store manager, which I haven't followed through on, since I was planning to start with KBC. Show less

During my last year corporate management I went to Reims, which is a small village in the Northern region of France. My main goal was to expand my language skills and test it in an environment of native speakers. At the office de tourisme I could train my language skills and to my surprise not only my French was tested but also my German and English language skills. When I came back from France I graduated with honors (magna cum laude) in Corporate management/Office management and I was ready to take on the world! Show less
