Two other instructors, and I, co-taught the Freshman Success Seminar (CSM 101) course at the Colorado School of Mines, a class required for all first year students to take their first semester at Mines. As a Peer Mentor, I not only teach the CSM 101, but I was a resource for my students as they transitioned to the college lifestyle. I was a mandatory reporter on campus, and have the responsibility of educating students on important topics such as diversity & inclusion, personal wellness, time management, communicating with faculty and staff, and degree exploration. COVID-19 necessitated the Industrial Technical Sales Internship be executed in the virtual setting. In addition to the following, I also attended webinars and developmental workshops that were integral to understanding company culture and cultivating my professional development: Completed safety training & technical lessons covering mining and water treatment applications. Performed an independent project to update the Mining Division’s Pricing Catalog via thorough data analysis. Researched and developed in a two-person team a potential treatment for volatile organic compounds in air emissions using the adsorption capabilities of the company’s patented zeolite. Designed process flow diagrams and constructed a lab-scale experiment to test the viability of our solution. Frequently collaborated with the company’s CEO, lead chemical engineer, and manufacturing manager about progress updates and design improvements. Produced technical reports with supporting experimental data and oral presentations to showcase the findings of our project. Working part time during the school year, I acquired extensive customer service skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. After working at Thai Gold for over a year, I had the opportunity to train new employees and take on management-like responsibilities. Not only has the job given me ample experience with handling multiple tasks at once and adaptability, it had likewise reinforced my time management skills as a full time student. Engineering Intern

I analyzed and interpreted company profitability data to construct visuals via Excel. I used this data to infer patterns and/or correlations between a number of major project expenditures within the past year. In addition, I then took on the task of designing a potential VPU enclosure using the SolidWorks software program for an upcoming project. My final assignment was pitching a new compliant email server for the company. I did research on the new NIST regulations and came up with a couple of options all with estimates on how much it would cost (both financially and time-wise) to move forward with each option if deemed superior. During the entire duration of the internship, I shadowed a team of engineers from a variety of fields and accompanied them to various project sites. All of my assignments/deliverables were submitted with accompanying presentations, creating a valuable dialogue and receiving feedback from the company’s CEO, CFO, and project managers Show less
