Ms. Larson was a student in my Introduction to the Bible class, a peer tutor for the same class after she took it, and my teaching assistant for a First Year Seminars about Christian Morality in the Roman World. Ms. Larson is a bright young woman who engages the class materials in a deeper level than it is required to do well in the class. She pays attention in class and participates in class discussions. Her papers are always thoughtful and well researched. She is a positive addition to any classroom or work group. As a peer tutor and as a teaching assistant, Ms. Larson always put a great deal of effort in reaching students who were less engaged in the class and to help those struggling. Her contribution to the class as a bridge between the students (most of them freshmen) and me was very helpful to me. Even though she is a straight A student, she has enough empathy and generosity to engage all students at the level where she finds them and to help them achieve their best performance in the class. Ms. Larson is a kind person, an interesting partner for intellectual discussion, and a hard worker. She is well respected by her peers in the Honors Program and by all the faculty members who I know have had her in class.

As Senior Administrative Associate for the Wagner Lab in the Program for Cellular and Molecular Medicine (PCMM) at Boston Children's Hospital, I have many responsibilities. From applying for and reporting on grants, to developing a new website, I take care of any non-research related tasks in the lab. As a teacher at COMPASS I was responsible for leading ELA and Reading classes for grades 9-12+. I created and conducted lesson plans, as well as amended them for every ability in the classroom. All of my students were on IEPs and behaviorally, emotionally, or developmentally challenged. I wrote and edited IEPs, in addition to attending the meetings where decisions on IEPs were made. I am responsible for conducting classrooms from grades K-5 or 6-8 through daily procedures and activities. I have gained exposure to working in the professional environment with other educators to ensure the best experience for the students. I also have an extensive background working with special education students one on one. I am responsible for conducting classrooms from grades K-5 or 6-8 through daily procedures and activities. September – December 2011I was the instructional assistant for a professor at Emmanuel College. I attended all the class meetings and was responsible for taking and keeping track of the student’s attendance and assignments. I was available during my office hours for students that wished to come see me. I acted as a liaison between the students and professor, expressing any concerns one had to the other, in addition to helping the students study for quizzes and editing their papers. I tutored one student two times a week for an hour each time. I was required to plan our sessions and prepare her and myself accordingly. Notre Dame Montessori Preschool – Dorchester, MA – Volunteer January – March 2011Once a week I helped conduct a pre-school classroom with other adults. Each class had a structure that we had to follow. I helped the children with academic and non-academic activities. I tutored one student two times a week for an hour each time.
