At ADAM Architecture I work as both the Deputy Sustainability Lead for the practice and as an Urban Designer within the Urbanism team.In my role as Deputy Sustainability Lead I am part responsible for the ongoing formation and management of an in-house sustainability team alongside the delivery of project support on sustainability matters. This includes the provision of strategic advice at the concept design stage, technical advice, writing sustainability statements, and undertaking operational energy and embodied carbon assessments. As an Urban Designer I support the masterplanning of large-scale housing developments across the UK involving the development of concept plans, analysis of site constraints and opportunities, drawing of unit types, formulation of design codes, and other activities. I always try to embed my holistic understanding of sustainability within this work. Show less

In this role I lead studies of proposed street layouts for mixed use communities using spatial analysis software (QGIS and Python). These studies lead to an improved understanding of the future street hierarchy in these developments and indicate the optimum distribution of non-residential uses. Alongside this work I'm also involved in developing further offerings and future planning for the organisation. The Litus Foundation was formed expressly to slow climate change and help people adapt to it. Currently the organisation is working on the design and manufacture of an un-cooled adiabatic engine which will boast twice the efficiency of IC engines used today. To further maximise efficiency the engine will be used in a series hybrid configuration comparable to the diesel-electric power trains used in the rail and marine industries. As an Intern at Litus I conducted research into high temperature lubricants, low friction bearings and hybrid-electric drive-train configurations, to further the development of Litus’ un cooled engine concept. This work involved desk-based research in addition to networking at events and speaking to contacts within the industry. Show less

I lead water sessions, designed a season-long goal oriented development program and selected crews for competition. The squad enjoyed plenty of success during my time in charge, winning a number of major events. Many of the students joined the senior squad for Summer competition in the same season. Alongside my coaching I completed British Rowing courses in Emergency Aid, Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Capsize and Recovery. Show less

At Canopius I spent time shadowing an International Marine Cargo Underwriter, watching the underwriting of a wide range of risks from territories around the world. I was introduced to the concepts of policy wording and pricing, benchmarking of risks, catastrophe perils, exposed aggregates, exposure monitoring, and market dynamics. I also became familiar with Marine Claims, picking up knowledge of claims settlement within the framework of international trade, and spent time with a Pricing Actuary who helped me to realise the non-life actuarial approach to pricing.
