As VP of Product Engineering, I manage three teams of Backend, Frontend, and QA engineers and lead major product development initiatives across our entire stack. My role encompasses both people and technical leadership, with particular focus on developing our service architecture. I strive to recruit and retain engineers of the highest caliber through creating teams they want to be a part of, anchored by trusting relationships, technical excellence, and invitation to experiment, explore, and grow. At Knotch, I: • Direct and manage our teams of backend, frontend, and QA engineers working with tools such as Elixir Phoenix, Python, GraphQL, React, Apollo, RabbitMQ, PostgresQL, Redshift, and Ruby on Rails. • Work with leaders across Knotch on major company priorities, and backup our SVP of Engineering on representing Knotch Engineering both internally to other teams, and externally to customers and other parties. • Architect our core backend API applications, and steward language and library selection. • Collaborate with our Data and Platform Engineering leaders on architectural projects across our infrastructure, such as designing and overseeing development of our event-driven service architecture. • Review critical pull-requests, set technical standards and best practices, and oversee our builds and releases. • Mentor engineers and facilitate the growth of new engineering leaders. • Manage critical product development projects from proof-of-concept through production release. • Work closely with the Product team and other engineering leaders to help shape and refine product roadmap. • Recruit, interview, and hire new engineers. • Teach and facilitate the “Change Up” process to continuously improve our product and engineering workflows and culture
