As a paraprofessional, I work with students one - on - one within the classroom and school environment. I assist students in a number of ways throughout the day, and some examples of what I do include following student IEPs, adapting assignments, managing grades and helping students catch up on homework, work with students to be more independent, work on socialization skills, and work with students on their personal cares. I am here to serve all my students based on any emotional, behavioral, personal, or academic needs they may have. Show less

As a BSS, I have the pleasure of assisting children grades K-2 in their educational experience while in school. Within my day to day activities, I float around in classrooms to help children with any academic questions or concerns, as well as assist the teacher in classroom activities like pass out papers, or make sure classroom demands are met. During lunches, I oversee classrooms and able to put my classroom management techniques into my work. At the school I am in, there are a lot of children who come in with home life issues like trauma and homelessness, so I assist children emotionally. I help students process through emotions, give them exercise breaks, and direct them to any further assistance that may benefit the child. I am trauma informed as well as trained in physical intervention tactics. I am also knowledgeable on PBIS rules across our school. Due to COVID-19, I take many CDC recommended precautions throughout the day such as temperature checks, keeping a mask on as well as educating children on wearing their mask, and cleaning of all surfaces and hands. Also due to COVID-19, I have had the pleasure of assisting a teacher, and their students, through distance learning. During this time, I attend all class periods via google meet, teach an SEL lesson every day (subjects include mindfulness, self affirmations, safe spaces, zones of regulation, deep breathing techniques etc.), grade assignments on Seesaw, and also help students with homework. At Northway Academy, we are a day program who offers services to people with autism and other exceptionalities. We work with individuals from 3 years of age to 21 years of age. With these individuals, we work with them on not only academics such as math, reading, and writing, but also social skills like how to play with a peer, or how to have a conversation. We also work with personal needs such as toilet training and hand washing. As a behavior analyst, I work with children one on one everyday based on their individual needs and programs. Our programs are based on ABA learning. I have become fluent in following program protocols, looking for the details, and positive reinforcement. Show less
