I had the pleasure of working with Haifa in several capacities in implementing new grants management software, when she was a client and then a colleague. Her resourcefulness, attention to detail and positive attitude ensured that her projects were successful. I am happy to see her following her interests, continually learning and exploring new opportunities!

I am pleased to offer an endorsement of Haifa Staiti, who worked at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House from January to April, 2007 as a coop student. Her role was that of a Project Coordinator, Communications and Marketing, and her main responsibility was to establish a marketing and communications strategy for the House. Haifa was very creative and learned quickly. She worked well with others in a busy, hectic environment, and demonstrated lots of initiative – we were impressed with what she was able to accomplish in the four months. Some of her main accomplishments in the four months were: * Established a base communications strategy for the coming year * Created a data base of all donors, sponsors, friends and supporters of the house * Created the an e-newsletter for the Neighbourhood House. * Assisted in fundraising efforts by writing grant proposals for the children and women’s programs and for securing sponsorship for the harvest festival. She was able to secure a $5,000 donation from a corporate sponsor and was able to secure in-kind donations for a special event. Haifa did a wonderful job during this co-op placement, and I would not hesitate to hire Haifa in the future.

The Crossroads Refugee Health Clinic provides comprehensive primary health services to newly arrived refugees during their first two years in Toronto. As a member of the Mental Health team, I provided psychosocial assessment, mental health counselling, information and referrals, case management, and advocacy for the clinic's clients. My work focused on addressing trauma, adjustment, and mitigating barriers to accessing services in the community. In doing my work, I made frequent use of language interpretation for all service delivery. Show less
