I finished my student teaching in the best Kindergarten class in the world at David Wolfle Elementary. I completed my classwork, reflections, portfolio, tests, observations and hours for certification and Northwest Educational Development has recommended me certification. I am currently subbing k-8 for the rest of the school year, and will look for my own classroom in the 2022-2023 school year.

I served as a long term leave replacement in the same kindergarten classroom in which I was a student teacher. I was so happy to be back with my first classroom of kids, seeing them through most of the rest of the year. I will also continue to sub in the district after my time as a replacement ends.

I taught a variety of courses face-to-face and online at NWIC-Port Gamble S'Klallam Branch including: English 101, English 102, Cultural Sovereignty 310, Intro. to Computers 101, and Human Development 110. In my teaching, I utilized "Writing Across the Curriculum" and help students develop critical thinking through the practice of continual writing. I also helped students develop modern technical skills, such as website development, video creation and social media management. Most importantly, I used my knowledge of Native literature, generally, and of my community at PGST, specifically, to help tribal students understand their unique position in this world and their unique gifts as learners. My favorite subject to teach was Cultural Sovereignty because it was there that I could help my students understand how culture is tied to learning styles.
