At Tesco Express, I started as a customer assistant carrying out various tasks such as working on tills, shop floor and stock room. This position required me to work independently as well as in a team. My responsibilities were to guide customers to the products they required and suggest complimentary products to drive sales. Also, I ensured that the standards of the shop floor were maintained by replenishing shelves with backstock and rotating products to mininmise waste. The role required me to adapt to working extremely fast while performing multiple tasks at a time, given that it was a small store. I accustomed myself to work under pressure and acquired an in-depth understanding of various technologies used in the product-making process while mastering distinct communication skills and strategies to increase sales. Within a year I was promoted to Stock Control Assistant. This involved monitoring the stock, bv updating the data in the system, recording deliveries and individually counting each product to keep track of the sales and waste. Show less

In this position, I provided excellent customer service in English and Spanish. My commitment to the role enabled me to obtain experience as a supervisor for a day. Doing overtime allowed me to familiarise myself with various departments such as womens, fitting rooms and tills. I enjoyed the demands of working in a fast-paced environment that rapidly changes and requires versatily. Moreover, I supported my colleagues to re-arrange the store for the sale season, this involved working early mornings and sometimes late evenings. Finally, maintaining high standards in the women's department at all times was essential and I worked extra hours to help teams from different floors to meet the collective targets. Show less
