Gus is hands down one of the best Software Engineers that I've ever worked with. His technical skills are at the level you would expect of a Software Architect. He also has very strong leadership skills. He even spent a few months working as Software Development Manager on a project for a high-profile streaming app. He is very thoughtful and asks the right questions before beginning development. His communication, whether in person, in a JIRA ticket, or on Slack is exceptional. Best of all, Gus has an amazingly positive can-do attitude that makes him the perfect developer to have on your team. He is without a doubt one of the best people I have ever worked with. If you are lucky enough to have Gus interview at your company, hire this man immediately... It will be the best hire you ever made!

In my time at Phunware, Gus and I often overlapped on various projects and codebases and I can say with confidence that I personally grew as a developer, being exposed to Gus' skillset and overall level of expertise. Gus is a true professional, an iOS Engineer that not only exhibited his professionalism in his day-to-day work but was personable and the type of engineer you would want to work with. His code reviews and suggestions were always spot-on and there was always something you could learn from Gus' code. I would recommend Gus, without reservation, to anyone looking for a true Senior iOS Engineer to add to, or lead, their team.

Member of various teams that have developed several large scale mobile apps, including the Fox Now app, the Trump 2020 campaign app and the Norfolk Smart Workplace app. I also worked on various components of a solution for a reusable codebase that is useful for implementing apps in vertical domains. My regular duties have consisted of developing features in mobile apps, performing code reviews, providing guidance and leadership on implementations and mentoring junior developers. I have also performed the duties of a software architect and a development manager. Additionally, I played a big role in developing our automated build system. Show less

Worked independently to produce two major apps. The first was the Wheelstand app for Toyota, which was a kiosk-style iPad app that was used by Toyota at car shows. It allowed the user to interactively explore the various vehicles at the show and to request more information from their local dealer. The second was the PNH Patient Resources app for Alexion Pharmaceuticals, which was for both iPhone and iPad. This application provided the PNH patient with educational materials and tools to manage their PNH, including beautiful charts so that they could follow their progress. Also built a couple of frameworks. One was to help with resource management and content delivery and the other aided in unit testing. Show less

Worked within the Wall Street Journal division and I was the lead developer for the following applications: WSJ iPad, WSJ iPhone and Barron’s iPad. I also contributed to the Dow Jones Investment Banker iPad and MarketWatch iPhone applications. My responsibilities as the team lead included understanding the product requirements for incremental releases so that I could make accurate time estimates, advising the product team as to the feasibility of certain features, coming up with the technical design for integrating the new features, working with the QA staff to quickly resolve any defects and managing other team members to insure that the project was finished on time and within budget. My primary responsibility was to field requests for technical support from developers. This required me to have an in-depth knowledge of the Smalltalk language and development tools. During my down time, I created a much needed software system that enabled the support team to log their calls and customer information. This was done using the Smalltalk language.
