Here’s a shout out to a colleague and friend, Gus Schowengerdt (yes, I spelled that without looking it up). Gus is the consummate branding expert and art director – always accounting for details and packaging up information so projects can move forward as smoothly as possible. I had the privilege of working with Gus on the largest collateral creation/revision project ever undertaken by the American Cancer Society, with approximately 200 pieces to produce over a few months’ time. While keeping a sharp eye out for consistency and excellence, Gus also was willing to take some calculated risks, so our pieces came out fresh and sharp instead of stale, as might have otherwise been the case. As a copywriter, I appreciate how Gus understands the subtleties of language and how copy and images work together to influence audiences. He is respectful and considerate, and he’s also loads of fun. Please give Gus your utmost consideration when looking for an art guy who can help make big things happen.
