Yates Flooring had only one store for nearly 40 years in one location, Lubbock Texas. In 2015 the company decided to expand to Midland Texas and asked me to be General Manager of the new store front.I was responsible for many operations in Midland including but not limited to; all aspects of warehouse operations (shipping, receiving, returns, etc.) Managing installations for both retail and commercial flooring projects in multiple cites, including our most lucrative trade partner Betenbough Homes Construction. While also, handling payroll for contractors, training new employees, and importing principles and expectations established at the original store.

    • Receiving Manager
      • Apr 2013 - Feb 2015

Started as a warehouse employee, building pallets, cutting carpet and loading out the material via forklift. I quickly learned how the warehouse operated and was promoted to receiving/shipping manager. This included unloading trucks and being responsible for the count and location of all material in the warehouse. Which allowed me to be more organized on a much larger scale and taught me how to work with computer inventory programs such as Rollmaster. I was recognized for being the most efficient receiving manager they have had.

This job really taught me how to maintain focus and stay sharp in a fast paced work environment. Work started at 3am and ended at 9am. I was still in school at this time at South Plains College and was able to maintain good grades while working. With hundreds of boxes coming down a conveyor belt you have to keep a very close eye on which box goes where in your specified truck(s). I happened to take on 2 trucks after a short time of working here which taught me a lot about organization and team work. During busy holidays like the month of Christmas I was loading trucks up at 3AM and delivering the packages until 10PM at night. All this taught me discipline, focus, and how to maintain those through out the day.
