Bio

I had the pleasure to take part in Sustainable Urban Dynamics Studio, led by Gunilla in 2009, one of the Sustainable Urban Design Courses at Lund Univerity, which was a turning point in my study and perception of urban design. Our study trip to China and working on post-event ideas for the Olympic Park revealed how to plan on different scales concerning global and local socio-spatial dynamics. I have also had the opportunity to work with Gunilla for my master's thesis. Her encouraging dialogue and feedback guided me to the art of story-telling and to put different ideas into a network of intertwined layers to produce a coherent scenario. Her well-organized teaching plans, friendly approach, tolerance, and productive critiques raised my enthusiasm towards the realm of urban design to the next level and have always inspired me in my career journey.

Gunilla was teaching the Sustainable Urban Dynamics course I took in 2010, as a part of my Master studies in Sustainable Urban Design at Lund University, Sweden. The course consisted of a number of lectures and workshops, a 3 week study trip to China, and a project related to the challenges of fast China’s urbanization. This course provided a deep understanding of social, economic and environmental issues of China’s ongoing urbanization and the knowledge I got literally opened the doors for me when I started looking for a job in Chinese market. Gunilla is a demanding teacher, she will make you give your maximum. You will appreciate it later on. She thought me how to turn a bunch of ideas into a strong concept, and encouraged out-of-the-box thinking and discussion. In my professional life I often go back to the study material from her course and use it as a reference and inspiration.
