Managed test-bed outsourcing initiatives for managed network services and applications support inline with government utility consolidation guidelines. Key Reflections: Validation of the importance of identifying both overt and covert goals of key stakeholders. Validation that doing what is right sometimes means saying no. Facilitate the delivery of high risk or high value sourcing initiatives. Key Reflections: Validation that a well crafted (realistic and non bloated) contract can create and set a positive tone for a client/vendor relationship. Validation that I love the English language and apparently debating with lawyers. Facilitate the delivery of high risk or high value sourcing initiatives. I started with InTACT as a PM managing IT projects, moving into the program role and managing the team of project managers overseeing all ICT projects for the ACT State Government. Projects included a dizzying array of infrastructure and application projects. Key Reflections:The breadth of scope of IT within a state/territory government. Managing people with more experience than me. Validation of my own skill set. Mar 2000 - Jun 2001
Technical management of the start up of Canadian operations. Oversaw all technical aspects of a company growing from a 5 person startup to a 60 person service provider. Key Reflections: While we had great technical capability, this company is a great example of expanding to quickly in a congested market that was subject to poor market valuation methods. Assigned to the Australian Tax Office account, this was a short term role spinning up IT infrastructure for projects. Key Reflections: It was short, but probably my first time in such a highly structured (but not necessarily productive) client governance environment. Hands on technical management of all company ICT infrastructure and systems for the Tengiz oilfield, a multi US$billion project. Projects included ICT standup for De-bottlenecking and Train 5. Key Reflections: Wow, what a learning curve. Location, logistics, technical, and cultural challenges! One of the best jobs I've ever had for learning, personal drive, and working with people from vastly different backgrounds. I was the initial IT Manager during and after CSAM's breakaway from CS First Boston. This was a really interesting role for a young guy as I was able to really put my mark on things. It was a high profile role in a highly regulated industry. Projects included everything a startup would go through, and everything an existing financial institution needs to keep running. Key Reflections: This was a big step in responsibility for a young guy and I like to think I made that step and… Show more I was the initial IT Manager during and after CSAM's breakaway from CS First Boston.
