Explanations for the limited number of reports by professionals and volunteers at disclosure offices: an exploratory study. The study shows that underreporting is an explanation for the low number of reports to the disclosure offices. The survey results show two important factors that play a role in several areas, namely uncertainty about the functions and operation of the disclosure offices and unfamiliarity with the concept of elder abuse. In addition, this research has demonstrated another explanation for the low number of reports, namely under-registration. Show less
