Atlantis Fellow

The Atlantis Clinical Fellowship is a competitive physician shadowing program, where I had the opportunity to spend 20+ hours a week engaging in AAMC compliant clinical shadowing hours in Mallorca, Spain. I was among a group of other undergraduate students in health care fields from universities around the United States, shadowing doctors and other health care professionals in various specialties. I shadowed 30 hours in the ICU, 30 hours in Cardiology, 30 hours in Anesthesiology, and was trained in CPR and Basic Life Support by hospital staff. My program was based out of Hospital de Manacor, located in Manacor, Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, east of mainland Spain. This is a bilingual hospital with over 200 beds, 8 operating rooms, 2 maternity wards, and many other departments. Through this fellowship, I was exposed to international health care settings, an abundance of cultural variability, and was able to explore the quaint villages, majestic landscape, and soulful charm of Spain on my days off.
