Tim Hammerton

Greg took on a work package leader role at the start of the 29 partner EU funded Europeana Space project and oversaw its innovation activity. The first task was a robust discussion to define the process of how a programme of six hackathons, held across Europe, could engage members of the public with the creative re-use of digitised cultural heritage content, and establish criteria for how teams with innovative ideas could be selected to receive business modelling support. He acted as the interface between the Project Board that coordinated the project, the hackathon organising teams and participants. This was a critical role, as Greg could share best practice and offer advice to maximise the effectiveness of events, within the scope of project objectives, to ensure that participants and partners were happy with the results. He brought a valuable perspective to project discussions, both internally and on conference platforms, and contributed significantly to recording activity and the valuable lessons learned within project reports. As the Europeana Space Project Manager, I can certainly testify that Greg’s contribution to the project was integral to its success and I valued his contribution a great deal.
