The Copernicus Center's theater is the sole surviving atmospheric-style theater in the Chicago area. Built in the 1930s, it has a vintage ambiance, accented by classic red seats and a breathtaking blue ceiling resembling a sparkling star-filled sky. The theater capacity is 1,889 seats – 1,415 on the floor and 474 in the balcony. Concerts, Community Events, Classes, Private Events & Meetings grace our Center's venue spaces on a weekly basis. Reflecting Chicago's rich ethnic blend, the Copernicus Center has become a hub for Cultural Concerts & Theatrical Performances. It is common to see our "Upcoming Events" page list Polish, Persian, Ukrainian, Latino and other ethnic events along with YouTube stars, Rock stars, Pop stars, and Country starts. We are MOST popular as an Entertainment Venue, but take great pride in serving the Polish community; the population responsible for the Center's existence. The Copernicus Center is supported by the Copernicus Foundation, a 501(c)(3). The Copernicus Foundation organizes one fundraiser a year, our Taste of Polonia Festival. Attended by 25,000 to 30,000 annually, it provides an insight into Polish culture & customs, along with Jazz, Polka, Pop, and Rock bands on four stages, Join us every Labor Day Weekend.
