My role with Solstor involved all aspects of the UK operation (our main customers include DS Smith recycling, Premier foods, Kroomspan) this involved routing the core fleet of 30 vehicles around the UK and subcontracting from our Crayford office. I was also employed for business development and through my contacts from my previous employers, I had sourced new work for the company, arranged new meetings with prospect clients, agreed daily rates and increased the operations of the company but unfortunately the company could not keep up with the demand that I had supplied to them and they had to cancel some of the orders. Now they are not looking for more work and I have had to change my role within the company. Show less

My role at the European transport control tower involves planning all aspects of the UK operation (our main customers include TK Maxx, Panasonic and Marks and Spencer) this includes routeing of own fleet vehicles from our two hubs in Droitwich and Northampton. I then have to subcontract out the remaining loads including sourcing new hauliers, setting up lane rates, ad-hoc jobs and allocating all orders to relevant small quantity pallet carriers insuring this is all done in the most cost effective manor while still achieving the customer KPI’s. • Transport Planner/Operation Team Leader
      • Jan 2010 - May 2012

My role was of a logistical vehicle planning within the UK and this involved the same role as in Leicestershire but I had been asked to take on the responsibility of an operation team leader taking on the Operations side in Aveley this consists of Returns and rebooks, sorting and preparation for drivers holidays, handling wage queries, sorting out defects, services schedules and organising drivers hours.

    • Transport Planner Team Leader
      • May 2004 - Jan 2010

My role was of logistical vehicle planning within the UK and this involved running a team of 5 planners and a fleet of 50 drivers. The weekly running of the team involved dealing with head office to see how our customer service figures are doing for that day and week. Planning of work and resources in the UK. Planning the traffic flows within the UK and if there are any areas that we need to focus on. I then briefed my team on what on where we need to incorporate this onto our business. Then my team would discuss the manning levels that have been produced by the operations team to plan the 50 driver’s locations and deliveries for that week and the 24 hour team support team. The day to day running of the team involved, liaising with each individual in my team to see how they are managing with their workload and if they are meeting there KPI figures that are set by the Planning managers or how they can progress so that they can. • Transport Operator/Planner
      • Jan 2002 - May 2004

Whilst at Schenker, I progressed my career originally from a Transport operator and onto a Transport planner. My role was logistical vehicle planning within the UK and this would involve 20 vehicles per day and 5 trucks. The Key Performance Indicator (KPI) per vehicle would dictate how many drops each vehicle would do in that day and this in turn would predict the profit earned from that vehicle in that day. I would then take the KPI’s from that week to produce a KPI report for the management team, so they could see that the KPI’s were being met and the vehicles were making a profit. My role also included dealing with sub-contractors and drivers, special deliveries and collections, POD and collection of this information so the planning of vehicles deliveries and collections would operate as it should.
