Software Engineer Intern
-

After my year's internship, I was offered to continue my internship remotely on a part-time basis alongside my studies. I continued to work on the Perl and Jenkins-based Performance Testing automation project which I began in the previous year.

Gained experience in a wide variety of technologies related to Secondary Storage, notably Python, Perl, Jenkins, Groovy, Go(lang), Docker and Swagger. Also gained skills in working under an Agile development model using Jira, Project Management, event planning and working in global teams across geographies. My main projects over the year were:Developing a Python SDK for the StoreOnce REST API: * worked in a team of 4 developers under an Agile development model * achieved a customer release of the SDK after 6 only months of developmentImproving Swagger code across entire StoreOnce code base: * Created scripts to update code automatically, rather than manually like others had done demonstrating my problem solving skills * Became competent at using Github as all code changes would need pull requested/reviewed through the sitePerformance Test automation: * made use of my Python skills to automate much of the Performance testing procedures * gained experience in Perl and Jenkins technologies - created inventive Jenkins pipeline capable of parallelising the processesAlso participated in regular Hackathons, my favourite being the "Tuckstock" project where I took the lead of a 4-person team and made use of my Agile experience to create a fully functional system for automated stock taking in the office's tuck shop in only three days.Other achievements include raising a collective £7585 for charity as a group of 5 interns - the highest for a group of interns at the Bristol site to date. I ran a half marathon and helped to organise various events throughout the year as part of my efforts, and was the 3rd most active intern in the UK for charity work out of the 60 interns. Filed a patent application in collaboration with another employee at HPE which is still under development. Show less
