The archive began as part of my graduate work in history in 2010. My plan was to make the artifacts of the St. Louis punk scene available online for anyone to use at any time. I began with my own collection and the collection of my friends. The archive now includes over 300 pieces of music history including, t-shirts, cassettes, local zines, newspaper clippings, contracts, ticket stubs, photographs and other artifacts. The related St. Louis Flyer Project has grown to over 600 pieces of punk advertising including posters and flyers. The archive is a resource for local historians and musicians. Artifacts from the archive have been included in a new book on the history of music in St. Louis. I am currently curating a collection of Jet Lag Magazine, a local punk zine that ran from 1980 to 1991 using the archive collection as the basis of the new book. The archive is maintained using the digital collections software Omeka.
