As a superintendent at CWP, I take on a few roles. In the morning, I arrive at the job site before all of the workers. I walk the job and make sure there are no safety concerns. Then I begin putting together a list of tasks I would like each person or each group depending on how many workers I use that day. As the workers arrive I inform them of any important information. weekly I will conduct a safety meeting to ensure that each employee is up to date and informed on the latest safety requirements. After that I start lining them out on the days duties. I am generally on the job site every day, so I do business from a folding table or from my car. I receive many phone calls all day long. I have to answer questions from workers and subcontractors. I also am in charge of coordinating subcontractors to do the work on my job sites, and get estimates from multiple contractors to find them one best suited to do the work and stay under budget. I read through blue prints and check the work of all the workers to ensure proper installation. Most days I have to travel to a couple different job sites and perform all of the above duties. I interact with the customers every day. I walk them through the projects and give updates on schedule. I work with the customer on putting projects together and giving them estimates. At the end of the day I start the process all over again and start planning for the next day.

At Har-Bro I worked as carpenter, sales and project manager. I went out and brought in work to the company. I met directly with clients and created a relationship with them. I worked closely with them to determine the scope of work to be done, then I would get them to sign the contract enabling us to start the work. The next step for me would be developing a budget for the job. I had to break down the contract amount into different categories per trade. I would then start interviewing subcontractors and providing them the necessary information so they can give me an accurate bid. I would choose the contractors that could do the work within our budget. while reviewing bids and selecting the contractors, I put together I schedule for the job from start to completion. I wrote all my own work orders and change orders. I wrote contracts and kept track of daily progress. I would meet with customers weekly to go over progress and keep up the friendship developed during the construction process. Another task I would regularly perform is material take offs. I would calculate the amount of material needed for the project and then order it and schedule for delivery. I made sure to be on site at every job once a day to answer any questions, solve any problems and ensure the project is on schedule.
