Having started as a consultant within the London East Primary team I worked my way up through Managing Consultant and into a Management role within the same team. In my time at the helm I have developed the branch from from 6 sales consultants to a dynamic group of 16 employees all at different stages of their career. I'm responsible for their progression from Support Consultant through transition to Sales as an Associate, Consultant, Senior Consultant and into Management. Throughout my five year tenure as Manager my team won the Branch of the Year award on three occasions. I have mentored a number of Consultants and Managers not only in my team but across the company in London and Regional branches. I have also designed and delivered my own training workshops to new and experienced staff. My own Team Building Seminar was delivered to a group of experience sales people who had joined a new team. The idea was to create a single vision and bring many different techniques and personalities together to drive success. The team went on to become 'Branch of the Year' within its first full year together. More recently, through my own observations, I realised that with huge changes in our market, our company expectations and our personnel it would be good for new starters to come together with their peers and look at 'Simple Sales'. This highlighted some sales techniques as well as understanding targets and expectations of an Associate and, most importantly, overcoming fear and being able to celebrate success. This was delivered to 7 Associates who were new to their roles, the company and sales in general.

MECS was a small IT recruitment company based in Docklands that dealt with contract and perm recruitment. I was responsible for C++ Software sales which was a brand new concept and meant I had to learn quickly in order to create opportunities and buy-in from both candidates and clients. Whilst I built good relationships with some top clients in Medical Imaging and Hedge Funds I found that more people were being laid off than hired meaning deals were inconsistent and frustrating. Having been there for a short period of time I soon realised that permanent recruitment was a vast change from what I had been used to and found that it too slow and laborious to keep my interests. After a year I decided to part ways and re-join Protocol as a Manager Joining MECS in the wake of the recession was not the highlight of my career but it did break me out of a comfort zone, introduced me to good (and steered me away from bad) habits which set me up for a successful future in leading teams and managing people.
