I was the Principal of Sacajawea Elementary school in Caldwell for 6 years and during that time we were recognized as a "Distinguished" school for the improvement and gap reduction of minority groups on the state achievement tests. The demographics of the school included 91% Free and reduced lunch students, 60% Hispanic and 30% LEP. Even with the challenges in Demographics the teachers were able to implement Instructional Focus groups in reading and support the math development to bring incredible growth to all students. I was also an Assistant Principal at Jefferson Middle School while in Caldwell under Randy Schrader, now superintendent of Garden Valley schools. While at Jefferson we converted the school to a high performing middle school from a Junior High format. Caldwell School District is a innovative and leading edge school district with leadership that develops problem solving teachers. Show less

I was blessed to have my first opportunity at administration in an environment that developed me mentally and spiritually. During my time at Cole Valley I was traveling between two schools and yearly had a different office, mostly in closets or food pantries where volunteers often prepared food boxes for homeless people. I was humbled and challenged by the circumstances and situations that CVCS provided but will never forget that I wasn't the administrator there that I am today.
