TAS Online, a pump specialist company, was formed in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2000. We are totally focused on helping our clients improve the efficiency and reliability of their pumping systems in order to reduce both electricity and maintenance costs whilst improving plant production. Over the last ten years we have gained considerable experience testing and assessing pumping systems throughout South Africa. Pump performance testing and condition monitoringWe perform on-site hydraulic pump tests by accurately measuring flow, pressure and power to determine efficiency, where the pump is operating on its curve, its state of wear and how these relate to pumping cost. Vibration analysis reveals actions required to prevent breakdowns and reduce costs. We are pioneering thermodynamic pump testing in South Africa. Thermodynamic pump testing measures the temperature rise of the fluid across the pump to determine pump efficiency within 1%. This level of accuracy enables the company to perform acceptance tests on site and to determine flow where flow meters cannot be used.Pumping system assessmentsThe largest energy savings lie within modifying the pumping system. In pumping system assessments the system parameters are first understood, then measured and analysed to reveal savings potential. We have performed such assessments at many large industrial sites both directly for the client and as sub contractor to larger energy and engineering consultants who are tasked with optimising the entire process.Ongoing pump performance and energy monitoringWe offer real time monitoring using permanently installed instrumentation. We then analyse the data generated and present results via periodic management reports, enabling clients to balance their maintenance and energy costs to spend less and produce more.Engineering consulting related to pumping systemsThis includes feasibility studies, design reviews, project scoping and management, pump training.
