I grade and assess the work of students in both General Physics and Digital Logic. I am responsible for easing the workload of the professor so that he could focus on helping students while I completed grading and bookkeeping tasks for him. On the work of the students that I do see, I am responsible for providing meaningful feedback to assist in their continued education and understanding of physics concepts. This Semester in Digital Logic, I was responsible for writing tutorials for the students use of FPGA boards and the new software associated with that. While I was testing the boards it was discovered that the design had a load issues due to a undersized inductor. I re-soldered all of the boards with a larger inductor and ensured the students had the proper tutorials to use them correctly. Show less

    • Designed LEGO Popup Book Set
      • Jan 2018 - May 2020

In 2016 I submitted a design for a LEGO Pop-up book to LEGO's crowd-sourcing website called LEGO Ideas. After achieving 10,000 votes on the website, the LEGO review board looked at and approved my product for production in early 2018. Throughout 2018 I assisted the LEGO designer in Denmark on reworking my Popup book to meet all of LEGO's standards and enhance it's design and functionality over all. LEGO ended up changing a lot of the colors, but the mechanism that I had originally proposed to the Popup book remained constant throughout the design process and was included the books final release in November 2018. Since then, I have contributed in the marketing campaign for the book, I have been on the local news, to several local schools, and have ran a contest online related to the book all to help promote sales of the set. As a lifelong fan of LEGO, I really enjoyed getting to work on and develop this product as I know that other younger builders will be inspired by the set just as I was by LEGO sets when I when I was a kid. I was asked to return to my position in the summer following my first year of school to help the company catch up on their work orders by resuming the duties of my original position. Additionally I worked on developing hardware decommission and data archival procedures as in the few months that I was absent, a significant backlog of computers and hard drives with sensitive data had piled up in lieu of me being in charge of processing them. By the end of the summer, I had achieved my goal of both relieving the company of enough of it's duties to allow it to catch up on work, and having the hardware completely cleaned up with good processes for my coworkers to follow in my absence. I assisted the head botanist with growing and planting foliage around the George Fox Campus. I also worked on several larger projects helping implement the underground irrigation system around the new Tennis facility and the Austin Plant lot. The final project that I assisted with was one that a senior from the Art department instigated. I helped prepare and place a dozen fish statues, a bench, a stone stream, and a large amount of foliage The project was created to be another great place to sit on campus, in addition to honoring the salmon fish that used to be in the stream. I was responsible for all hardware that went to and from both our clients and our hardware inventory space. Day to day, I would deploy workstations to clients around Portland, loading them with all their proprietary software. I was responsible for suggesting new network solutions as problems arose. I worked with networks, firewalls, and VPNs, as well as system backup software (ShadowProtect) and virtual windows environments.
