Graham's perhaps the most passionate and innovative technologist I've met - time after time he introduced contemporary techniques and methodologies to the OTC Clearing RAD Team in JPMorgan Chase having read blogs and internet articles in his spare time. I think this gave that team a clear edge on others in the investment bank. And it gave me an education as a developer! TDD, CI via Hudson, automated unit tests, ORM via nHibernate and LINQ driven development are examples that I can list just off the top of my head, and aren't strictly things you'd find in a typical investment bank build team. Despite coding and technology being his forté Graham is more than comfortable in the project management arena, resourcing and planning work as well as client communications and reporting. He also deals with actions quickly and efficiently. An all-rounder.

I worked in close partnership with business stakeholders to develop a variety of applications. I was the lead developer on a project developing and enhancing a successful client billing solution which allows bespoke billing for over 200 clients executing over 5 million trades per month across foreign exchange, credit derivative and interest rate derivative products. I led the introduction of several new technologies (e.g. C# and ASP.NET MVC) and best practices (e.g. test driven development, domain driven design, continuous integration and testing). I was also involved in several divisional and firm-wide initiatives (e.g. technology architecture, technology security and developer efficiency). Technologies used included C#, ASP.NET (WebForms, MVC, AJAX), NHibernate, jQuery, svn, Nunit, Moq, Oracle PL/SQL and MS Office VBA. Show less

My role was within Group Finance, where I successfully developed and delivered several high profile applications, making a significant contribution to processes across many areas. I was involved in the full project cycle developing applications using Visual Basic 6, Excel VBA, Access VBA, Oracle 9i PL/SQL, VBScript, HTML, JavaScript and Classic ASP. This role also involved a high degree of customer interaction, both in requirements gathering and end-user training. In this position I successfully developed a staff budgeting tool using Excel VBA. This position was a fixed term contract during the summer vacation of my postgraduate diploma. It allowed me to develop my software development skills in a commercial environment, including analysis, design, build and implementation. While working in Barclays Stockbrokers operations, I developed an interest in developing Excel VBA applications. Many of the applications I developed for personal use were adopted throughout my department. It was this success that led to promotion and ultimately a return to university to study software development.
