Managing Director

Jan 2019 - Present
At the end of 2018 I had the opportunity to acquire the assets of a furniture business just outside Petersfield in Hampshire. After a year of sailing under the umbrella of the old companies name, it became apparent that the company required a new identity. I wanted to bring my experience and distinctiveness; take a fresh approach and rename the business. Ashton Bespoke was born, a name that I felt encapsulated my vision of the business going forward. So the adventure, continues in progressing the business, reaching new heights and delivering the vision. What we do here is interpret your design and ensure this is fulfilled whilst considering the client’s budget. We work in a way that stays true to your design and doesn’t compromise either the finish or the budget. This is an ‘innate’ skill at Ashton something we’ve mastered with time, experience and knowledge; born from the passion and desire to deliver above and beyond for our customer. We have learnt to use various materials and finishes that may not be readily associated with furniture making. We’ve developed an understanding of the way those materials inherently work differently to each other but in turn complement one another. Show less

Algarve "Portugal"

Managing Director (Owner)
-
1995 - 2010
Moving to the Algarve “Portugal” in 1994, I established Graham Goodall Lda in 1995 after seeing a niche in my market place for high quality architectural joinery, mainly due to the influx of HNWI purchasing holiday homes in the region. From this demands for purpose built furniture started to develop and I decided to make bespoke furniture my core activity, creating “Goodall Fine Furniture”. In 2001 I entered into a partnership with a private developer wherein I would undertake all their joinery works, whilst still undertaking other private contracts. Subsequently the company grew rapidly, undertaking all joinery works of some 10 to 12 large villas per year as well as bespoke furniture. The company had two workshops covering almost 1200 sq. meters employing up to 30 personal (FTE’S). By the end of 2004 I decided to end the partnership due to some differences of opinions, Architectural joinery had become the core of the business with fewer furniture commissions. I realised that my heart lay in the bespoke furniture industry. Consequently I decided to condense the company to one facility and reduced the personal to solely concentrate in the bespoke furniture market. The following four years the company found exceptional growth within the market place and built good relationships with private clients, local interior designers and architects. At the beginning of 2008 the recession started to hit England hard and subsequently this had a huge nock-on effect to my market. This led to the majority of my client base, being averse to spending the type of time at their holiday villas as they previously would and lead to many relinquishing their second home. This had such an adverse effect to my business that, at the end of 2010 I decided to close my company and I returned to England ending my seventeen year relationship with the Algarve. Show less
