      • Aug 2015 - Present

I work on numerous railway condition monitoring projects at the University of Birmingham, particularly involving inertial measurements from on board trains, and processing to give track geometry information. Other projects I am involved in include points machine instrumentation, axle bearing monitoring through both vibration and acoustic analysis, and track circuit monitoring systems. Most recently I have been working on wireless battery powered inertial sensors to be placed on railway sleepers to monitor vibration and displacement.

My PhD work has involved mounting inertial sensors onto the bogie of an in-service railway vehicle. Data from this system is processed and analysed to obtain information about the state of the track that the train is travelling on.I have also been involved in numerous other railway condition monitoring projects at the University of Birmingham, including projects involving points machine instrumentation, axle bearing monitoring through both vibration and acoustic analysis, and track circuit monitoring systems.
