  Experience gained as a Focus fellow includes touring and making connections at leading food industry companies such as Conagra Brands, Simmons, Newlyweds and the Tyson Discovery Center. Independent research was conducted on Arkansas Fresh-Market Blackberries in which I presented at a showcase at the end of my time with the program. I spent the majority of my time creating a proprietary food product and creating a pitch that would be presented to and tasted by industry judges. The aim of the program is to gain experience in the field of food science, learn about industry companies and research and development practices as well as conducting research with the objective of presenting my findings and publishing.
