I had the opportunity to mentor Gracia for close to a year and was very impressed with her indomitable spirit and positive attitude. She is not someone who will cut corners and will willingly spend time to sieve through for meaning to crystallise her work. As a consultant to her projects, she was proactive in problem solving and had anticipated upcoming challenges and milestones. I believe that work to her is not just a 9-to-5 job, but a vocation where she seeks to contribute. Her commitment can be seen by how frequently she visits the question,

I worked with Gracia and her team of 4 as a faculty advisor for a Field Service Project (FSP), during which she completed a consulting assignment for B1G1 (http://www.b1g1.com/). The project was superb, both in terms of the deliverables presented to the client, as well as the process that Gracia and her team executed in order to manage the project, execute research, and compose client-facing reports and presentations. I was most impressed with 3 characteristics that I think led directly to her success. First, Gracia has the unique ability to listen. So important in business analysis, consulting, or sales, Gracia’s ability to listen allowed her to be exceptionally creative with her approach and thoughts. But also, I think, it gave her an ability to remain agile all the way through the project. Listening led directly to learning. And her ability to learn allowed her to deal with project pivots very confidently. I was also impressed with her core project management skills and her general professionalism. Quite unlike the usual university student, Gracia was well in control of time lines, milestones, reporting, and third-party dependencies. As with all projects, there were plenty of ups and downs. Nevertheless, Gracia and team delivered on time and with high quality. Finally, Gracia’s communication skills are strong. She communicates clearly and can command influence among her teammates as well as with me and the client. Her proposals were crisp and engaging, and her presentation style believable and confident. As with listening skills, the ability to cull an idea into a simple, but relevant, message is quite rare, especially for someone so young. I highly recommend Gracia for any role she is interested in or any further academic studies, and am happy to provide more detail to anyone who reaches out to me as a reference.
