Surgo Ventures is a nonprofit organization dedicated to solving health and social problems with precision. I integrate behavioral science, machine learning, and data science to generate insights that improve human well-being. As a Research Scientist, I support many of Surgo’s research activities, including leading analyses, developing data collection and analytical methods, and designing interventions to transform health behaviors. I am passionate about translating scientific findings into interpretable and actionable insights and believe interdisciplinary research can be transformative. Show less

• Leads analysis of Surgo’s family planning program in Madhya Pradesh India, the most comprehensive survey of sexual and reproductive health in India in a decade. • Researched and helped develop survey instrument surveying over 15,000 women, 5,000 men and 1,500 community health workers. Conducted field tests in Madhya Pradesh and built a data processing pipeline to monitor and evaluate data quality during survey deployment. • Designed and ran predictive and machine learning models and uncover drivers of complex health decisions such as family planning uptake. • Supported causal machine learning research for precision public health, including the development of Bayesian network analysis tools. Worked with collaborators at the University of Sussex to develop machine learning tools relevant and accessible to public health practitioners. • Generated insights and helped present results to diverse audiences, including the Government of India, stakeholders at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, and the computer science community.
