As a support worker some of the key responsibilities I have are:* Providing physical support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.* Providing emotional support for an individual and their families.* Supporting and helping with health care needs, including routine checks or administrating medication.* Encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.* Teaching life skills, such as shopping, using public transport and paying for bills.* Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.Making friends is often difficult for the people we support, and so a key responsibility of support work is promoting and planning meaningful days. This can be supporting people to enjoy their hobbies and interests, helping them to get involved in community groups, or encouraging them to learn a new skill like cooking or painting.

As a CignPost Express Covid swabber some of my responsibilities included, putting on protective gear e.g., Mask, face shield, washing hands before going on shift, wearing gloves and an apron. As a member of the team my job included: interacting with different clients who were travelling abroad. Making sure that they are aware of what this procedure entails and why it is essential. Additionally making sure that the client is as relaxed as possible and put at ease. Most of the clients I came across were nervous and unaware of how 'painful' or painless the procedure is. I had the privilege of making friends and meeting people from different walks in life and helping them to get to their desired location safely by assisting them with their tests. On different occasional days I would work at the front desk of the COVID 19. This included recording the kind of tests that the clients were having and their duration of result. For example, putting labels on the test and informing clients how long they would have to wait to receive their results by email.
