As a research assistant, I work with the Gaudette Lab to develop a standardized method for cultured meat on decellurized biomaterials. This past year, I co-led a project to test the impact of detergent treatment on the mechanical strength of decellularized spinach leaves. By utilizing uniaxial tensile testing, we were able to compare compliance values of leaves treated with different decellurization methods. Together with my lab partner, I presented our conclusions at an Undergraduate Research Symposium in May of 2023. Additionally, I began to collaborate on an upcoming project to use MatLab code for the purpose of analyzing data on the biomechanics of football. Show less

As a part of Boston College's selective Emerging Leader Program, I was the team leader of a project with the intention of implementing more sustainable practices in Boston College dining halls. Throughout our project, we consistently collaborated with dining hall management and upperclass leaders to ensure that our ideas will be implemented across campus in the upcoming year. Our solution, centered around the idea of shadow boxes, focuses on awareness of waste sorting management to increase sustainability. We presented our design idea to both the dining hall team and a sustainability panel, taking into account financing, feasibility, and implementation. Show less

While working as a team member of Mom's Organic Market in the Naked Lunch Kitchen, I specialized in preparing organic nutritional meals for customers. With the purpose of "protect[ing] and restore[ing] the environment", Mom's Organic Market is a growing company that places the health of the planet and the people first. Throughout my time at this market, I have learned the benefits of eating vegan, the importance of shopping in bulk, and the ways that the needs of people can be met through sustainable, organic food. With the opportunity to be a volunteer at Saint Columbkille Partnership School, each week I was able to foster an inclusive and active recess environment for 2nd and 7th grade students. I was able to develop personal relationships with many of these students through this time with them, and I focused especially on those being excluded by classmates. I worked to encourage an inclusive, respectful, and an overall positive recess atmosphere.
